Billie was also the first woman to be named “Sportsperson of the Year” and is best recognized for her 1973 “Battle of the Sexes” victory over Bobby Riggs. She stayed involved as a mentor, commentator, and advocate for women’s sports and other causes since retiring from tennis.

Her love of sport brought her to her current partner, Ilana Kross. Like King, Ilana is a former professional tennis player and coach who doubled its rankings in 1976. Ilana was also a member of the South African team that competed in the Federation Cup.
